a: The beer is black in color with a nitro-esque head. Good retention/lacing.
s: Not what I usually expect/desire from a bourbon-barrel aged beer. Did they really age it, or are they just marketing it as such? Smells like a good stout for sure...subtleish milky roasts in a Guinness kinda way.
m: Creamy, fuller mouthfeel with low, smooth carbonation.
t: Not bad. Primarily milky and creamy roasts. Very light bourbon presence, if I even pick any up...could just be the power of suggestion. Lightly hopped. Could certainly use a boost in terms of both a deeper roast and stronger bourbon.
d: not bad
A few years ago, I used to love this beer. Now that I have experienced a load of bourbon-barrel aged beers and seen how great they can be, this one seems a little below the curve.
2007/2008: I've seen the barrels full of stout, so I know it is indeed aged in Jack barrels, but I still don't know why it doesn't carry more character from them. A good stout nonetheless, just not much different from their standard and a couple dollars more for a smaller serving.

The beer is a blackish brown with a good head. The aroma is slight whisky with chocolate and roasted. The flavor is slight whisky with more chocolate and roasted. The finish is dry.
I had this beer at a SMA function previously, but had never taken note of it. The notes from the Holiday Beer and Blugrass Festival read:
"A foreign style stout using caramel, chocolate, roast and black malts. After fermentation we "Jack It Up." We age our stout for two months in a Jack Daniels oak cask. The final product will have a moderate Jack aroma and finish with a smooth and mild Jack flavor."
