Appearance: hazy amber orange color with a wispy head. No lace develops.
Smell: super sweetness is off putting here.
Taste: caramel, brown sugar, yeast, big ripe fruit sweetness, mild alcohol, and some soft bitterness make up a messy dubbel that is way too sweet and unbalanced.
Mouthfeel: lightly crisp to start, smooth at the finish. Medium bodied. Long aftertaste as the sugary sweetness glues itself to the tongue.
Drinkability: this is like a missed first timer homebrew dubbel that misses the mark. I could not finish the glass.

What a treat, a whole growler of this goody with Sunday afternoon football! Excellent pairing.
Even though it was bottled a week ago, it still remained fresh, carbonated, and frothy. Nice ivory head and lacings on top of a great looking amber with ruby red edges.
Subtle hints of Belgium yeast and sugar cane a fairly sweet brew, with enough malt to back it up. A solid brew for sipping.
I luved this sample, thanks to blackie for sending it my way.

appearance: Slight head when poured carefully from the growler into my snifter. Nice color, med-dark amber. Proclaimed in the brewpub as being brewed with yeast imported from a Trappist brewery.
smell: A raisiny sweet like maltiness is what first comes to mind. A considerable Belgian like characteristic is noticeable. Maybe a little candi sugar influenced hints. Dark tree fruit, definately some dates. A little light in aroma, but definately good.
mouthfeel: A slightly light medium carbonation level. Body is medium and considerably slick.
taste: A slick, darkly sweet maltiness in first noticed. A very slight hop bitterness gives some balance. The same date flavor noticed on the palate is there, along with other dark fruits. Some alcohol bite.
drinkability: Pretty damn drinkable
Good going, Mash House.

Yummmm....a good clean beer with subtle Belgian Dubbel characteristics. The appearance is deep red - mahogany with a brown hue in there. Mostly clear with good head retention. The carbonation isn't crazy like most Belgians. Good lacing and lasting head. Aromas are fruity of plumbs, figs, and a little raison and pecan-like. Flavors are similar to the fruits in the aroma with a little tartness and chocolate and molassas richness. Low hopping leads to low spiciness. The yeast doesn't provide much spiciness either. The Belgian "twang" is subtle but noticable. Finishes sweet and mildly tart. A little dry and alcoholic in the finish. The alcohols are mellow through the beer but are sweetly pronounced in the finish with a little heat. A good beer, but lacks the intensity of Belgian characters that I love.
