Served in shaker pint glass. Poured lightly hazy honey gold color, with less than 1/4 inch of white head that had low retention, and light lacing.

The aroma started with a very sweet malt scent, and had a bit of grain behind it. There was a semi-funky yeast smell too.

The flavor profile was similar; sweet start, some grain, light hops. But then, that yeast funk dominated. Just a weird component.

The body was light-medium, and fairly typical for the style.

Drinkability wasn't the best, that odd funk made the pint a bit of a chore. Overall, not a beer I would suggest, unless you're a ticker.

Thanks to Miranda's mom, Tracy, for bringing this growler from the West coast. Inspected, but not cracked open, by the TSA. Hooray for small miracles.

Pours a clear golden color with a good sized head, especially after it's trip, pretty good lacing on the glass, not much retention.

Smell has a very malty aroma, bit bready, picking up a hint of lime.

Taste starts out with a malt front as the lime slowly creeps into the aftertaste, finishes with some bitterness, the kind you get from eating the rind of a lime, mouthfeel is very slick and buttery, butter is also coming in on the taste and is a bit off putting.

Brewed in honor of the college graduation of the brewerÂ’s daughter, Ditsy is a blonde ale enhanced by a pound and a half of lime peel. The peel is frozen to break its cell structure and then added to the mash ten minutes before flame out. The lime has no difficulty surging to the forefront of the aroma and taste and requires no fresh lime wedge as a condiment.

Birdsview was serving its second batch of Ditsy when I arrived. It has proven very popular with the locals and may become a regular feature. Sounds like a good idea to me, as this is a very refreshing summer ale. It is light amber colored and delightfully easy to drink.
