A - Chocolate brown and hazy body with a small tan cap. Average lacing on the glass. Looks just like melted chocolate in a glass, but not so thick.

S - Dark roasted malts with bittersweet chocolate and a background of oats.

T&M - Taste is just like the smell. Very pleasant with bitterness coming from both roasted malts and chocolate malts. Mild bitterness comes in with the bittersweet chocolate flavor, but not cloying in the aftertaste. Oatmeal flavor in the back end that adds a nice hardiness and even some smoothness. Nice and thick mouthfeel that coats the tongue.

D - Very, very nice oatmeal stout. I ate this with a lamb sausage and goat cheese sandwhich which went really well together and the beer event tasted great afterwords as a dessert.

On tap into 16oz nonic pint glass.

Deep black with a one finger light brown head that leaves a good amount of lacing as it descends down the glass.

The aroma was a little light, mostly roasted grains but nothing really rich or strong.

The flavor was very good. My only complaint is that it seemed more like a Porter than an Oatmeal Stout. That could have been from the cask serving style though. Mostly dark roasted grains with a bit of creamy smoothness that usually shows up in this style. Not much hop flavor.

Despite maybe being a slightly weak Stout, I still thoroughly enjoyed this beer, especially on cask. If you see it try it, if it's on cask, don't pass it up.
