Copenhagen 5/4 2020. s50 cl bottle from Voldby Købmandsgaard Webshop. Black label (naturally) with a cherry symbol forewarning me that this beer is apparently saturated in cherries and licorice.
Pours opaque dark brown with a big beige head. Settles as thin layer of foam covering the surface of the beer. Moderate lacing.
Aroma is medium intense, fruity sweet with prominent odor of burnt malt and licorice. Brown sugar, dark sweet berries, hard roasted malts. Salty licorice and hints of tobacco.
Light carbonation. Medium thick, oily, soft, almost flat texture.
Flavor is fairly intense with a medium strong sweetness followed by a slightly stronger bitterness. Aftertaste is bitter sweet. Lingers for a while.
The cherries is good fit with the dark beer but the licorice is more subdued. Nice, solid porter that's not overdoing the flavoring.
