Copenhagen 14/1 2018. 50 l bottle from Meny. Kikunae Ikeda is looking somberly at me from the dark blue label. Ørbæk seems to be fascinated by the fifth taste.
Pours hazy amber with a bubbly white head. Settles as a 1,5 cm thick layer of fluffy foam. Substantioal lacing. Quite a lot of flotsam and jetsam floating around in the beer.
Aroma is a bit stale and quite subdued for an IPA. What comes through is some bitter notes and a little malty sweetness.
Medium strong carbonation and slightly thick palate.
Flavor is medium sweet followed by stronger bitterness. Aftertaste is bitter. Semi-dry finish.
More IPA than Umami - and it's not that much IPA to begin with.
