Named in honor of racecar legend Jackie Stewart (even within the stillness of my own thoughts, I always hear his name spoken in brogue), this sweet brown ale bears little resemblance to traditional Scottish ales or wee heavies. It is fiercely turbid, unfiltered, thin bodied, and undercarbonated. Its overall demeanor is one of an inkish homebrew with little polish and no finings.

The Scot’s most redeeming quality is its bright, sugary smell, which carries forward to the taste, though oddly, the taste stays sugary without touching upon real fruit. Without the light bittering in the finish, Flying Scot would be pure beer candy. There’s also no head, no lace, and no trace of peat.

Not an altogether awful beer, but very crude and served nearly flat. Tastes almost like a wheatless dunkel though without the Bavarian accent.
