The liquid is clear; the colour is deep red-brown-amber. The head is beige; it sinks down to a finger thick layer with a fizzing sound. The beer is bottle conditioned.

The smell is yeasty with some sweet malt and bitter hops. I found notes of brown sugar, green apples, matured strong red wine and a hint of caramel. Nice, but it lacks some depth.

The taste is fruity with quite a lot of yeast. Green apples, marzipan, wooden notes and some sweetness.

Hints of smoke in the aftertaste. Some alcohol that grows to become the dominating flavour in the quite short finish.

The carbonation is strong (as it should be) with lots of small bubbles. The liquid is thick.

An OK Dubbel; not bad, not great.
