Olhão 9/7 2016. 33 cl can from Jumbo Supermarket. Produced for the Auchan retail group. Green can with lots of golden ears of corn to indicate that I am in for a malty and grainy experience. Can’t hardly wait.
Pours clear pale yellow with a white head and lively carbonation. Bubbly. Head disappears almost immediately. No lacing.
Aroma of sweet pale malts, wet cardboard and glue. Bread and grains.
Strong carbonation and watery palate. Lively texture.
Flavor is very sweet with almost no bitterness for balance.
This is an almost perfect example of a bad discount beer.

Font Salem “Heifer”
33 cl can coded “L209305 2510XX 19/10/2024” and sampled on 25/11/2023
Notes via stream of consciousness: The body is a clear golden beneath a short head of white that fades readily and leaves next to nothing in the way of lacing behind. I know that the glass I’m using is beer clean so it’s not the glass. Plenty of tiny bubbles can be seen rising steadily and yet the head has not been maintained. The aroma is oddly herbal over maltiness but at least it’s clean. The flavor suggests that it’s an adjunct beer with hop extract but the ingredients aren’t listed on the label. It’s lightly sweetish and not particularly grainy, and there’s just a smear of herbal hoppiness in the background. It’s mildly bitter, but that’s what’s needed here, and it finishes semi-dry with some adjunct malt and minor herbal hoppiness lingering shortly. It’s not the worst Euro lager that I’ve tasted because it’s at least clean and fairly well balanced but it’s far from the best.

From Alcampo. In Ikea's pilsner glass. Reading CPPHTP10 Ch15. Another stinky garbage from Font Salem. Didnt expect anything else, of course.
