On tap at the brewpub.
Pours dark amber with a thin tan head that leaves no retention or lacing.
The aroma was interesting with some hops and a nice spiciness from the rye on top of a bit of caramel sweetness.
The taste has light malts and some rye with a slight spiciness. Mouthfeel is fairly smooth with moderate carbonation and clean finish.
I actually enjoyed this one a good bit. The rye really helped make this into an interesting take on the style. I would definitely try this one again.

Pours an amber-ish ruby colour with a decent sized head that has good retention as well as a good amount of stickiness to it.
The aroma is a little roasty toasty along with a bit of caramel sweetness and a fairly good hop burst as well.
The flavour is still of roasted, semi-earthy malt, but the main factor here is how much of a presence the hops have. The flavours are balanced overall but the hops clearly have the most bite here. Surprising how much the hops pop here because its the antithesis of the style (and the brewpub is the one that describes it as a Mild), but it not such a bad thing as this is a nicely flavoured brew. Mouthfeel is medium bodied and crisp.
I dug this one. Probably my favourite of the Hurricane brews that I had. Again, it doesn't really fit the style thanks to the hoppy flavour, but it works well overall. I'd call this one a very nice amber (as the name implies but not the brewery description) and certainly worth a taste.
