I picked this up at Euro Spin in an effort to find what the bottom of the barrel produced. This was about half the price of any Weizen in Italy.

The burnt orange body is cloudy with a fluffy white head that turns to a cm of very sticky lacing.

The smell is typical with large banana esters, spice and yeast. Low to medium carbonation, a wheat twang and very upfront banana comprise most of the taste. In my opinion, it's a bit rough with higher acidity compared to the premium Weizens. The aftertaste is wheaty and faintly metallic.

I wasn't blown away by this beer, which is very average for the style. What does impress me is the price. At .60 euro cents a bottle, this Bavarian budget beer was a good find.

Trying to find as many small random Bavarian Beers around before I leave Munich. Picked this up at a local drink market.
Produces an world-class Hefe head, thick, creamy rocky, Weizen beer perfection. Light murky golden body, medium carbonation. Great appearance.
Smells musty, rich, and spicy. Orange zest, clove, pepper, nutmeg, hay, fresh grass. The yeast adds a nice banana-bread creaminess. The bready background creates a perfect light, but sturdy base for the delicate yet complex spice profile. The "banana" factor is not quite as high as I would like,so I have to dock it a few points, but the spiciness is quite enjoyable.
the mouth feel is light, quite carbonated for a Hefe. Again a bit more creaminess would add another dimension.
Drinkability is nice, as this clocks in at only 4.9%, a bit lower than normal, it needs a few tweaks, and improvements, but they've been making it this way for hundreds of years, so who am I to correct their method? Well done, nothing mind-blowing, but a good drink.
