Poured from a bottle into a shaker pint, the beer is jet black, with a chunky, foamy, light tan head. Holy shit does this smell like root beer from the second you crack the top! Nose of sweet ginger, vanilla, brown sugar, cinnamon, sasparilla, and peppermint. Amazing...smells just like a solid root beer! Now, calm yourselves, because it's a slight decline from here. Flavors are where we really get some separation. Notes of cola, brown sugar, cinnamon, licorice, vanilla, and ginger, but everything feels separated and out of balance. Smooth and light in mouth, with a heavy aftertaste of ginger, vanilla, and licorice. Finish is smooth and slightly effervesced. Started off strong...
