Seabee – Gose – Big Boss Brewing Company, Raleigh, NC
The best beer at my favorite restaurant around is the Bad Penny Brown Ale that is brewed by Big Boss! This is my first actual review of their beer and one of my few reviews of Gose-style-beer. The Seabee is Big Boss’s interpretation of the traditional German Gose. The Seabee is a “wheat ale” Gose with coriander to offer floral and citrus notes. There is also a touch of sea salt and lactobacillus bacteria and special yeast to give a tart finish! In my ignorance, I would call this a sour… if this were a blind taste test. In my research, Gueuze is a more uncommon term used to refer to sour beers. They are similar; however, Gose differentiates itself by having a tart lemon taste, which comes from the use of lactic bacteria, which is definitely true in this beer (Food and Wine.com). Finally, this beer is 4% alcohol with no International Bitterness Index information. Overall, there is a lack of alcohol here, but I do not dislike the palate. I’d have another if offered. I will give the Seabee Gose a 7.2 out of 10.0, and this beer is not on Beer Advocate, so I will add it, but Untappd gives this one a 7.3. Cheers.

We love reviews (150 characters or more)! Check out: How to Review a Beer. You don't need to get fancy. Drop some thoughts on the beer's attributes (look, smell, taste, feel) plus your overall impression. Something that backs up your rating and helps others. Thanks!
