Bottle: Poured a light golden color ale with a big foamy head with good retention. Aroma of sweet malt with a nice floral aspect. Taste is refreshing with some semi-sweet malt, subtle but noticeable floral hops and a dry finish. By no mean is this a great beer but it is refreshing enough on a hot summer day.

Found in a Moscow grocery store, the bottle is typical for the Young's brewery: brown, half-liter, broad shouldered, wide again at the base. Yellow, blue and gold label featuring the two ram's heads coming together to form a single ram's head facing the viewer. Not much ingredient info on the original label, while the Russian import label lists on purity law ingredients. Best before 12/20/06, I opened it on 5/28/06.
Pours a slightly hazy yellow gold under a 1.5 finger white head that fades quite quickly to film and collar, leaving no lace. The nose consists of sweet malt with a hint of wild berry. The mouth is light and prickly. There's a definite strong fruity sweet taste. The malt is subdued, but definitely there, adding a bready quality. The hops are well hidden, emerging only late in the aftertaste as a dry tickle far in the back of the throat. This is a good starter beer, solid yet unassuming. I usually prefer more flavor, but on a hot summer day, this would go down nicely.

Bought this bottled-conditioned beer at a nearby Sainsbury's supermarket when it was on sale.
I am always intrigued by how people "define" a beer style but an "English pale ale"(as this beer is categorised by the web-editor) is supposed to use local or indigenous ingredients from this part of the country (England)? For this one uses Styrian hops instead... Anyway it's left to the experts/brewers/beer gurus to judge and debate, for in my point of view each and every single beer deserves its own profile in its own right.
Appearance: I had it in a gold-rimmed goblet, and it was pale to light-golden colour; it pours a quickly retreating beer head and very gassy, to my surprise.
Smell: mild honeyish, elderflower-scent, with delicate lime-stone kind of nose as well (sorry but I don't know how I came up with this reference).
Taste:mild hoppy taste, a bit dry in the mouth; when chewing, it could be quite crisp as well.
Aftertaste: it's interesting that the crispness lingering in the mouth was like that of having some lightly oak-aged Loire Valley (e.g.Touraine) Sauvignon-Blanc! with just a little bit of bitterness lingering.
Overall: I do think it's a pleasant drink, but I'm afraid the thin body and just several seconds of aftertaste doesn't stand up to my expectation of any "typical" English Pale Ale~~

Pours a golden color with a small-moderate sized head. At the thickest parts it appears a little hazy. The smell is of light hops and a touch of wheat. Taste is somewhat flat...almost like there is too much water added. Pretty remarkable that there is 5% in this one, you can hardly taste any of it. Definitely the kind of beer that you would get carried away drinking. A good one if you are eating a meal with a lot of flavor and would like something to cleanse your palate between bites.

The smell was sour and yeast, flower,
The taste was light, yeast, hoops, lemon. Quit fresh taste but everything seems so thin. Better than the smell. On a warm summer day it probably will be good. But doesnt do it for me.

This brew pours a yellow golden colour into the glass. The white foamy head disappear quickly, leaving a thin rim of lace. The smell is crisp and hoppy, some smell of yeast too and a nice smell of citrus. The taste is malty and tastes much of hops. The betterness is moderate with a nice touch of citrus.
This is a beer for warm summer days and i think i will have a few this summer

Is this golden ale or lager? I am not sure, but it feels more like premium lager beer to me.
Anyway. The colour of this beer is really pale yellow and the soft, light foam disappears fast. It is almost clear, but there is a (almost invisible) cloud from the bottle conditioning.
The smell is mild with notes of Styrian Golden hops and some hints of that special yeast flavour, common in those bottle-conditioned beers.
The carbon dioxide is fresh, tight and balanced.
The taste is soft, well balanced with a proper bitterness. The overall taste is fresh with a distinct touch of lemon juice, but no yeast.
Yeah... I think that I have found the perfect beverage for the hot summer days of 2004. All four of them. ;)
