Appearance: Deep copper color with a golden head and minimal movement.

Smell: Mild hops and malt.

Taste: Basic ale. Nice hop and malt balance with just a hint of butterscotch.

Mouthfeel: Medium body. Creamy body that improves as it warms.

Drinkability: Good session ale. Enjoyable when served colder than ale should be, but just as good when presented traditionally.

Clear gold pour with a bubbly white head. Fuggles and goldings prevalent in this one, with floral yet musty spice in the nose. Hoppy and crisp, but a watery mouthfeel. Typical English bitter finish. Tasted old, in a stale rather than aged way. Expected more, got less.

Rich amber in color with a dark golden edge, the pour leaves a medium thin creamy head and some mild lacing. Aroma is faint, can't pick up any distinct scents. Mouthfeel is just on the watery side at first but finishes a little better with some fullness. Flavor is good nothing too exciting malty with a faint sweet breadiness. Overall a standard representation but nothing special.

GLASS: Imperial Pint Glass
TEMP: Cellared @ approx. 50 degrees

Visually, this beer is quite nice. Deep amber color with ruby highlights. About a one finger head that levels out to a thin layer quickly with decent lacing.

Smells lightly of yeasty breads, with a faint sweetness form the malts peeking through. A little bit of caramel/toffee also present.

Earthy, piney, and just a little bit hoppy. A slight bit of sweetness to balance it out. Malts are in there, but they are down deep.

It's nice in the mouth, if a bit too light. No offense is given to the tongue, but no real excitement either.

Very smooth and drinkable, but not a whole lot going on in this one. Would not be a hassle to drink alot of these, but I'd probably drink something else, instead.

This is a solid English ale, but not among the best I've had.

This has a deep amber body with a moderate head and some lacing, although not up to the level of other Young's beers.

The aroma is malty with bread, faint caramel and earthy, lightly piney elements.

This is very smooth and drinkable, mostly biscuity with sweetish malty grain, faint hints of nuts, earth, pine, and citrus. It has nicely balanced light sweetness and crisp hoppiness. It has moderately full flavour and a little light compelxity, but not much.

Just realized that the best before date is 4/22/07, not 4/22/08.

Color: Copper with a two-finger head and decent carbonation.

Aroma: Bready/biscuity with a prominent malt backbone. A bit of sweetness as well.

Taste: Bready upfront with the malt shining through more than anything. Somewhat fruity as well.

Mouthfeel: A decent amount of biscuit at the back of the throat. A bit dry as well.

Drinkability: Still quite drinkable for what it is. Mellow. Balanced. Smooth.

Verdict: While I'm sure this beer is better enjoyed fresh, it doesn't disappoint here. There's nothing that offends in the taste or finish.

St. George's Ale pours a reddish amber hue with a finger or so foam head and some intermittent lacing. The aroma is fruity with malty overtones.

The taste is a strong malt presence and hop bitterness. It has a good bitterness retention in the mouth as it stay for a while on the tongue and back of the throat. Overall I would buy this import more often when the US dollar gets stronger.

This beer pours a hazy pale amber color. The head is one inch in height, and recedes slowly into moderate lacing. The aroma is nicely balanced between sweet caramel, and toffee, and refreshing floral hops. The taste is like the aroma, but a little milder. The mouthfeel is medium-light bodied with a high level of carbonation. Overall, this is a decent beer, but I would rather have a Fuller's London Pride.

Poured from a 1pt 9oz bottle into a pint tulip pint glass.

A - A cloudy amber color. Thick foamy white head that provided nice lacing.

S - A slightly fruity smell, with hints of hops and caramel malted barley.

T - Creamy, almost butterscotch taste up front, followed by a fruity slightly bitter finish.

MF&D - Although it was a little bit thinner than I usually like, it was very creamy and went down super smooth. I would definatly drink this one again and I recommend you try it if you haven't already.

Poured from the 16oz bottle into a standard pint glass.

Appearance- Beer pours nice and fluffy with a large head of cream coloured foam that fades into big bubbles that cling to the sides of the glass.

Smell- Grainy with hints of granny smith. Low earthy hop aroma, leathery and fruity. Some DMS is also present. Diacetyl levels are low, so that's OK for the style.

Taste- Fruity and light with that same grainy texture on the tongue as was on the nose. Green apple comes through once again, which isn't really something I look forward to on any beer. I'm pretty sure this beer is all grain, but I detect an 'extract twang' from the beer as well.

Mouthfeel- Slightly astringent, highly carbonated, light bodied and a bit cloying.

Drinkability- Not nearly as drinkable as I was hoping for considering it's rarity around here. On the plus side, it is still chugable.

a: nice orange rust color w/nice foamy fluffy but stiff white head that leaves lace on the glass

s: pretty fragrant w/ apple scents and sweet malts and a little hoppy bitterness

t: toasted malts with appley fruitiness ad a hop bitter kick at the end of the sip

m: too carbonated, i'm pretty surprised considering young's usually knows how to keep it smooth; it is still petty creamy in terms of mouthfeel

d: nothing to write home about for me; just a pretty good pretty standard english ale

First thing after opening was pouring into a glass. This had a very nice dark amber color that was cloudy with an off-white head to it.

Second thing directly after pouring I smelled this beer. I absolutely LOVED how this beer smelled. It seems to have a very fruity hoppy and strong scent to it. The first thing that came to my mind smelling this was fresh grapes.

After smelling this beer and seeing how it looked I may have gotten my hopes up too high preparing for the taste. The taste of this was very good, it seemed there was a perfect combination of hops and the subtle fruity spiciness.

The level of carbonation is always something that gets me here. I found there was a tad too much in this case giving a little too much zing with the smooth flavor and amazing smell.

The carbonation had an effect on the drinkability for me as it proved to be a bit too harsh on the throat on the way down. A good tasting beer with and amazing flavor and in need of a little work with MF/D shows room for some improvement. Yet still: A very nice evening beer.

Young's St. George's (full bodied) English Ale pours two good fingers of
beige foma over a cloudy amber brew. The nose is English all the way-
fruity and a tiny bit spicy. The flavor is British all the way too- nutty brown
malts with diacetyl (butterscotch) and vanilla notes and a spicy herbal hop
finish. Mouthfeel is smooth, light, crisp, and dry. I especially like that though
this has a lot of flavor, you don't get a lot of alcohol with those flavors, coming
in as it does at a modest 5.2% alcohol. Tasty.

Picked up a bottle at Julio's Liquors in Westborough, MA.

A: Turbid medium copper hue pours with a 1 inch + tan head that dissipates to less than a quarter of inch with good retention.

S: Nice and mellow aroma. Faint caramel malt underscores a restrained English hop aroma. Some sulfur/metallic and fruity notes and character.

T: Moderate bitter flavor dominates taste profile. Malt flavor is flat and provides not much support. Hop flavor is earthy. Dry and clean finish.

MF: Light mouthfeel with low carbonation. Dry.

D: Let this beer warm a little to let out the subtle flavors. High Drinkability/sessionability – that’s what English ales are all about right? This one fits the bill.

Hazy, dark copper bodied, small cream colored head. Malty scent with a heavy emphasis on the butter. Buttery taste, sweet caramel malt, complemented with a nice bitter hop. Thin to medium bodied, very wet on the palate. Pretty good english pale, one of those brews that you could drink from sun down to sun up.

A - A slightly hazy orange amber colour with almost an inch of fluffy beige head that slowly falls away.
S - Caramel malt & fruity esters up front with some floral hop notes in the background. Bit of a slight nutmeg aroma.
T - Everything from the smell with the caramel maltiness being slightly more predominant. A vauge buttery presence.
M - Quite full bodied for a EPA. Medium carbonation.
D - Could put away a few of these without a second thought. I'd love to try it on cask.
