Appearance: Pours an opaque, dark brown body with a medium-sized, off-white head.
Smell: Subtle meaty smokiness enveloping an aroma of dark malt, cocoa powder, licorice, and prunes.
Taste: Dark maltiness, mildly sweet, and a full (though never overblown) taste of sooty smoke and roast. Integrated fruit and licorice flavors. Some hunks of baker's chocolate. Dialed up licorice on the cocoa-coated finish.
Mouthfeel: Medium-bodied. Medium carbonation.
Drinkability: Not bad! There's a very reasonable, well-balanced smoke character in this one. Enough to please the smoke fans and keep the smoke crybabies from screeching.

Pours black with minimal head. Fresh from the brewery, thanks Bobby! A bit of smoke in the aroma, mostly smells like a porter. Taste, not thinnish, but poor indeed compared to the vertical of a smoked imperial porter. The smoke is there and constrained. A bit cola carbonated. Average taste and average porter all around.
