Appearance: Clear, dark brown body with a small-sized, ecru-colored head.
Smell: Fairly forward, meaty smokiness along with darkened malt notes of deeply toasted bread crusts and dark caramel.
Taste: Strong smokiness layered over the lightly sweet brown malts and modest touches of toast and dry caramel. Nice perceived meatiness of ham hocks from those smoked malts. Hint of dark fruitiness. Very mild bitterness. Finishes smoky with the light fruitiness continuing to linger about.
Mouthfeel: Medium-light body. Medium-low carbonation.
Drinkability: A good smoky brew with just the right amount of smokiness to keep things interesting, but drinkable.
