A 750ml bottle, number 1555/2000. 2012 vintage, bottled on 26th March 2017. Poured into a snifter glass.
Appearance: Black in colour with pretty much no head and no lacing.
Aroma: Roasty malts, calvados, apple peel, chocolate, oak, with notes of dark fruit, plum, prunes.
Taste: Lightly sweet and bitter, roasty, chocolate, caramel, calvados, dark fruit, plum, toasty wood, with a spicy herby note.
Mouthfeel: Medium bodied with soft carbonation.
Overall: I’m not big on calvados, but I tend to be surprised by how much I enjoy calvados barrel aged imperial stouts. For some reason they just work, and this was no exception with good balanced flavours, and just a very good sipper on a night where temperatures are going down again… strange for an April in Hong Kong.

Bottle M04/2000 ? Whatever that means.
A: Pours pitch black with a tall nearly-black head. Head is very loud and fizzy and dissipates pretty quickly. No sign of lacing.
S: Yow. Huge apple brandy. Very sweet and apple-y smelling. Sinister smelling base beer underneath, kinda charry and cocoa-y. Light hints of dark fruits.
T: Apple brandy right up front. Sweet and delicious. Fades a bit, revealing a very heavy-duty stout underneath. There's dark fruits, char and bittersweet chocolate. Maybe a hint of coffee. Finish is super dark chocolate and bits of char. A touch of oak in there but all the apple brandy flavors have dissipated.
M: Heavy like an anvil.
O: Crazy beer. Amazing apple brandy flavor. Big roasty flavors that overpower but the apple brandy rescues it mostly (in the beginning). No idea why this is in a 750ml, it is huge and heavy and can be hard to drink. But it is pretty awesome, especially if you like apple brandy. Best calvados flavor I've ever had really.

Black color with mocha head. Aroma has dark chocolate, bitter fudge and light brandy notes. Taste has dark chocolate and astringent roasted malt with a bitter finish. Medium body with low carbonation. Quite good but not really impressive.
