Bottle purchased and drank at Billie’s Bier Kafetaria in Antwerp, Belgium.
This one pours a fairly dark black color, with a small head, and a little bit of lacing.
This smells distinctly maple forward, with dark chocolate, vanilla, espresso, oak, and some tobacco.
This is pretty sludgy and pastry-adjacent for Struise, but I don’t hate that. There’s a lot of maple and oak from the barrels, and the base stout adds lots of espresso and dark chocolate. The more balanced and slightly bitter base helps balance maple flavors.
This is fudgy and thick, with a nice booziness, and pretty solid drinkability.
I’ve really enjoyed basically every iteration of this series that I’ve tried.
