Good looking beer with an interesting array of aromas (licorice, peat, dark roasted malts, burnt sugar, dark fruit, dark chocolate) that is quickly overtaken by the sweet and boozy cognac, both in the strong vapors and the taste. A little harsh and a lot hot on the tongue, though dry on the finish. Unfortunately the cognac is the primary takeaway, and that's not really doing it for me.

Very complex aromas. Flavors start off as a sweetish imperial stout, then the cognac hits in the finish and dries things out. Overall I found the cognac a bit too dominant and contributing more alcohol heat than I find pleasant. I'd like to try again after some aging.

On tap. Tan head. Black color.
Not sure what is going on with this one. Kind of a mess of flavors. Some sweetness from the cognac, some peat from I don't know where. Chocolate, caramel, and some oak. The cognac doesn't show much. Fairly roasted and dry.
Not to impressed with this beer. I had much higher expectations.

Smell and taste are both very strongly tilted towards cognac, a little too much for my taste. Some chocolate and roast show up on the back end as well.

32 oz. growler. Black body. Smells of huge amounts of cognac. Sweet fruity cognac. Strong sugary aroma. Almost sickly. Some coffee roasted malts. Tastes of equally strong cognac up front. Like a sweet red wine with intense oak. Raisins and dark fruits. Then strong coffee malts and bitterness take over. Boozy, but not really heavy. An aggressive beer in all other respects, though. This was a struggle, but it was interesting.
