Challenge Series #10 A Myrcene IPA is the newest ale from Bear Republic Brewing Company and clocks in at 6.8% abv. This IPA has all the good stuff: citrus, pine, stone fruit and classic west-coast hoppiness. Two-row malt and wheat along with our house yeast create a balanced finish.
“A Myrcene IPA delivers an epic hop terpene experience, this tastes like an instant classic. Like all Challenge Series releases, this brew is the result of our freshest ideas and a cutting edge take on the IPA formula. We hopped this beer with over 4 pounds per barrel of Chinook, Centennial, and experimental hop HBC 431, all of which are high in myrcene, to deliver a spicy, piney, and citrusy punch,” said Bear Republic Brewmaster Roger Herpst. “I snuck some Amarillo in there, too. Those hops are amazing.”
Each addition in the Challenge Series lineup is a fresh take on trending ale styles, each beer tastes unique and only brewed once. Challenge Series #10 A Myrcene IPA clocks in at 6.8% abv and for best results keep it on ice for your next adventure. This ale is a late hopped, West Coast IPA in that you will want to share with friends.
Challenge Series #10 A Myrcene IPA is available in four packs of 16 oz. cans in limited quantities in stores and both Bear Republic brewpubs in Sonoma County. Find A Myrcene IPA today because we are working on the next Challenge Series release now.

Golden and hazy with lots of carbonation and 4 fingers of yellowish head.
Smells a little better than a Bud.
Tastes of pineapple malt and an acrid taste.
Medium body with moderate carbonation.
I got this in Fairfield and am drinking it in Vacaville, Nov 26, 2019.

Clear bold amber color with sticky rings of foam in the glass. Hops are Chinook, Centennial, Amarillo, and experimental hop HBC 431. The theme is that all of these are high in myrcene, an aromatic which is also found in cannibis. I don't smell the dankness, and it doesn't remind me of pot in the slightest, so moving right along...
This is a complex dose of aromatics and I smell lime, honeysuckle, avocado, and honey. It's fairly sweet and quite malty. There is just a little stemmy astringency and a mild bitter aftertaste, which help balance all the fruity lushness. Overall this is a tremendous hoppy brew that is sippable all night. From the 16 oz can purchased at Trader Joes in San Francisco.
