Poured from a 22oz bottle into the ever-present trusy shaker glass. Poured a pretty dark brown with just a little bit of head that disapated quickly. Aroma was non-existant for the most part: sweet malt was really only thing I picked up.
Taste was the kicker; a rather sweet but pleasant malt, no hop bitterness, a bit of citrus, and a little piney-ness. I got this in February; would love to try this one fresh next season.

22oz bottle. Pours brown with a smallish frothy off white head that quickly goes to a thin collar.

The aroma is malty - chocolate, and nuts and some roast and pine.

The flavor is sweet chocolate malts, nuts and a little fruitiness with a light bitter dry finish with some tea like notes. The mouthfeel is medium bodied and a little watery.

Overall, a solid winter warmer in the Hibernation vein.

I had never heard of this beer before, but thanks schmittymack for bringing this one over. Poured a clear reddish brown with a decent tan head. Aromas of cocoa, caramel and dark candied fruits. Medium bodied and smooth, with flavors of cocoa, caramel and a light spiciness. Decent, but not overly exciting.

Got this from Schmittymack, cheers Dan!

Pours orange/caramel with a pinky of tan head. Some head retention & above average lacing

S: Brown bread, toasty malt & a bot of apple skin once warm

T: Brown bread, dark fruit & dryness up front. plus a touch of licorice & rye bread. Dryness, plums, cherries & candi sugar as this warms. Finishes figgy with dryness & some apple peels & kiss of brown sugar..

MF: Medium bodied, fairly sharp carbonation, fair balance. Carbonation smooths out once warm, plus a tad of warming sensation...

Pretty drinkable, nothing too fierce here, I'm guessing about 6.5% ABV. web site says 6.3, I shall report this! I liked this one as a change of pace for the style

Beer pours a dark and clear amber color with a nice off white head.

Aromas are of heavily roasted malts, dark cereal grains, and a hint of coffee.

Taste is mostly of dark roasted malts, cereal, a bit of cream, and light sugar sweetness. Flavors are pretty light overall, and there is a bit of mineral hop crispness on the finish.

Mouthfeel is ok, but kind of thin for the style.

Drinkability is not bad. It's a decent, drinkable winter warmer. But it lacks the kick that is there in many other beers of this style. Kind of wondering where the "warmth" is for this ale.

Looks murky brown (as opposed to Murphy Brown). OK, red brown really but I don't have a joke for that. It's almost black with a minimal head but good lacing. The smell is coffee and caramel. The taste is a bit burnt, but with a nice sweetness. It is more porter than winter warmer, I think. It has nice carbonation, although is a touch watery. The drinkability is limited by the burnt aftertaste. It doesn't leave me begging for more. Interesting but I'd go for Young's if I wanted to try a winter warmer for the first time.

A: Good color for an ale with a centimeter sustained head.
S: This beer has a wonderful fresh smell.
T: The malt taste is the most dominant. It has a slight bitter finish.
M: Very smooth and refreshing beer.
D: This beer is easy to drink and would be great to drink during a hot summer if you could get a hold on some.
