From a 22 oz bottle at the brewery. An aggressive pour produced a jet black beer with a beautiful creamy tan head.
Espresso is very evident on the nose (along with some smokey pepper) and carries through on the palate. Not much pepper flavor initially, but the pepper spiciness really comes through at the end.
Overall this is a very nicely balanced beer; The flavors of coffee and pepper meld very nicely with one another. This would have paired beautifully with the pork ribs we enjoyed prior to the tasting. Simply an amazing taste experience; one of the best beers I've had this year.

Not sure how to style this one. It's a stout with chile pepper and espresso over tones. Is it made with jalapenos? I think so, but was busy tasting when Jeff was answering some questions. My bad.
Black pour, looks thin...or not thick. Thin head that dissipates to the rim.
Anyway, the aroma is of espresso and green pepper, some chocolate hints and a thin layer of dark coffee.
Nice taste. Like creamed coffee and light chocolate, but without the cream. Smooth. The pepper is there in flavor on the sides and in the back, but no heat. Some dark fruit, dried. Raisin, prune. Great balance. Not sure if this is an IS or a Veg beer.
Very nice. Would like to see more of this. Should be at GABF, I though I heard.
