5 Seasons North brews a largely independent lineup from the beers at the original location. Crawford Moran, former owner of Dogwood Brewing, is the brewmaster at the Alpharetta location.

A very nice facility, as are all three locations. Large, granite topped bar. Central 360 degree fireplace. ( beers on tap, with 4 high gravity and high priced brews. High end food that is reasonably priced for the quality. friendly stoff.

Beers Tried: smoked saison, American IPA, Imperial Stout

Review: This is more of a Gorden Biersch (brew pub) on steriods. Awesome weekly rotating beers and food options that had me going back every time in town. Havent tried a single thing here that was not awesome.

The five seasons brand is excellent in overall quality in the Atlanta area. The ambiance is very nice and up scale for your typical microbrewery. I went with a large group with a wide variety of entrees ordered and all if then seemed well made and looked appetizing. Many beers are available with many styles represented. Each were relatively well made with typical genres and custom/unique brews available. Cost is standard and the service is excellent. Overall this is one of the better chain microbreweries out there. I look forward to trying the other.

In Alpharetta I figured this would be my best bet at good beer. The beer menu was heavy on the Belgians with an 11% with wormwood offering. I stuck with the Plan B IPA. I missed their Imperial Oatmeal - damn!

It was bitter yet a tad sweetter compared to other IPAs, but it was also nice and hoppy.

I ordered up an iceberg lettuce wedge (highly reccommended) and the grilled raviolis. The food was great! I could eat here everyday.

The space is big, spacy and airy, there is a fire pit near the bar with seating around it - pretty cool.
The bar is also very ample, wood everywhere.

Probably not the best place to catch a game, the TVs are tiny.

Definitely an oasis in this neck of the woods.

Visited the establishment on Sunday, May 25, 2009:

Went for lunch and the place looks very much out of place. It looks like a log cabin or some type of mountain home amongst a couple of office buildings and strip malls. Lets be clear, this place is way out in the there will be no walking home if you have had a few to many and it would near impossible to get a cab, unless you called for one and then it would be doubtful that you would actually get picked up. This is really my main complaint with this location. I would definately hang out there more, but I am not driving 20 minutes or more for one beer. The dining area was large, overly so I thought, and the place had a more than ample bar area. As it was a Sunday and Memorial Day at that, I think that there were maybe 5 other customers, so it is hard for me to really comment on the vibe, but they had some good classic rock tunes playing.

The food was good, being familiar with the Prado location, it seemed on par with that. I definately like places that use fresh and location ingrediants.

The service was good, knowledgable and very helpful. My wife was looking to order an item that she had the last time that we were at the Prado location, which was not on the menu, the waitress was familiar with said item and had it prepared.

The beer is good here and they had maybe 8 beers on tap or so, plus one cask, the Nearly Perfect IPA. I tried the Dark Star Stout and the Haiku Belgian Triple, both of which were solid, no compliants.

Overall, this place, as with the Prado location is a step above the typical pub grub with some fine beers, but perhaps a little pricey. I doubt that I will make it back to this location much now with the Westside location open and much more convenient, but none-the-less, glad that I went and would recommend to anyone.

Went here for lunch a couple days ago. It's very spacious with nice wood beams. It felt almost like a barn. It felt more like a family restaurant than a brewpub.

The beer was tasty, though nothing overly special. I had their pale ale, which was pretty good, but not "west coast" as they described, and my wife had their stout, which was really good. They also had some aged bottles on the menu, which I found interesting for a brewpub as I had never seen something like that before at any of the brewpubs I frequent.

The food was tasty and the waiter was very helpful and friendly.

Second location of Five Seasons to open in the old Embers Grill location and with Crawford Moran, formerly of Dogwood Brewing bringing his fine brewing skills here. This location is waaay up in Alpharetta, and you are definitely in the land of swank strip malls and popped collars. The serving and bar staff exhibits these qualities. They are all well scrubbed, young, eager to please but slightly snarky-when-you aren't-looking graduates of the local well moneyed public schools. As such, they tend to have done their homework on the beers and the menu and are polite because they are supposed to be, but all pleasant enough. Suburban steakhouse A-frame from the outside and stranded on a bland stretch of road, but much warmer and more inviting on the inside with a ski lodge feel. Fairly long bar which is where I usually sit, and quite a few tables for dinner. The food here is excellent, and the real deal. Wondeful, often locally sourced sourced ingredients combined into very tasty, sometimes creative ways- but fairly pricey. On the other hand, they do a superb job with standard pub fare as well for a bit less money. Really good burgers and frys, excellent pulled pork, etc. The food is as good as the beer. This location especially excells in Belgian offerings that are usually delicious, and a weekly cask offering. On this visit I had one of the Belgian style beers and a great watermelon wheat that surpassed its inspiration brew from 21st ammendment. With the possible exception of Leon's, which is too new to review on the food front, this place or the location at the Prado are the go-to gatropubs in Atlanta. If growler laws were ever changed in Georgia, I'd drive up here all the time for growlers. Worth travelling for.

Now that I have moved North I have visited the 5 North a few times, and have enjoyed each time. A nice version of the original, slight differences in menu (beer parmesan cheese soup is awesome, and not available at the Prado location). The brewer here has more of an emphasis on Belgian styles, it seems, which is nice differentiator to the Prado's classic offerings (and new ones with Kevin from Sweetwater now there). I really like the interior design here, very cool mix of modern and rustic look. Beer selection is not as robust as the Prado, but the weekly casks are awesome. I have always found the service at the Prado to be warm and welcoming, and do not feel that way here yet, but maybe that will come with time. In the end, another nice add to Atlanta's quickly burgeoning brew pub & beer bad scene.

Like the Silver Springs (Prado) this one has an all wood interior. However, the inside of this place is less intimate and cozy, more like a giant feed hall. It gets noisy very easily and it can be drafty. There is an upstairs area, however I don't know if that's for private events or overflow.

The bar seemed rather large with plenty of seats. There were four TVs against the bar wall, each playing a different channel (mostly sports).

There were four taps available on the menu, but it seemed like there was more at the bar. They also have vintage beers available. Their beer is pretty good, and I had a great Pale Ale. The price of the beer seemed reasonable. There is also liquor and wine available.

The food at the location is great, however it's somewhat expensive ($15-$25). It's worth the price though - you get what you pay for.

I like the Prado location better, but this one is fine if it's the closer location. I'd say the beer is about the same at both locations, as well as the food. I just don't like the interior as much.

The building is very nice, a great place to enjoy a meal. The food and beer are top notch. The staff is knowlegable and attentive. The food is original and eclectic. Mostly fusions of various styles with a lot of Belgian influence. If you like something different then this place will have something that make you say "that sounds interesting". I've found the food exceptional on each of my visits. Great food prepared well with good beer, you can't get much more. You get what you pay for. If you're looking for a steak and potatoe for 20 bucks, don't come here. The food costs a bit more but is worth it as it is interesting and well prepared.

The building is nice with wood throughout and a U-shaped bar. There is a "bar seating" area directly in front of the bar that has a large fireplace in the middle. Very nice. Lots of space.
We visited on a Sunday afternoon and the only place people were sitting was at the bar. We were greeted fairly quickly and I ordered the cask of the day which was a Barleywine aged in Calvados barrels. Very nice beer. My wife had the sampler which was 6 beers, I believe. All were above average to great.
The beer selection seems pretty static, which is fine with me because all the beers are great. Bottles of aged beer are available, but can only be consumed on premisis. No beer to go in GA. They also have their own root beer for the non-drinkers. Thursdays and Sundays are Cask Days (my nomenclature, not theirs). Those alone are worth the trip IMO.
Once we got our drinks, the service slowed a bit as we had to get the bartenders attention away from some regulars she was chatting with to order our lunch. But, I've had pretty good service when sitting at a regular table.
The food is always exceptional here. The dinner menu is expensive, but they do have a lunch menu if you go in the middle of the day that is much more reasonable. I had the pork BBQ sandwich and potato salad which was $10 and worth every penny because it was so good. Also, check out the specials, they always have something good and creative.
While this location is 30 miles from my house, I would have no reservation coming here on a semi-regular basis and highly recommend this to anyone visiting or that lives in the area.

This is the second time I have been to this location.

It is a very "warm" and cozy building with the log cabin effect making you feel at home.

The food was delicious for both me and my girlfriend as was the beer for both of us too. I had the ESB and the stout, and she had the saision and wit. All were true to style and of good quality.

Our waitress took great care of us but was not overly bothering us asking us questions and yapping at us the whole time. If she walked by and we were talking and eating with glasses full, she would walk right by. I really love that instead of the pesturing the heck out of you all of the time.

The menu is a little bit pricey but for the atmospehre, the quality food and beer, it is a small price to pay. I can't wait to go back again soon!

I've been here three times now. Each time I am left wondering why I've bothered. The food is fine, although not as good at the Prado location. This time, the beers were sub-par at best. Every beer seemed thin and uninspired. I know Crawford's been a big figure in the local beer scene for years now. I used to sell his Dogwood beers in my own bar, and thought they were pretty good. These beers were not even close. The food was just average, and, at those prices I expect a damn fine meal. I am going to wait a few months before I give them another chance.

Worth travelling out your way for. This is literally the next city after Atlanta. But is it gorgeous, with a harth in the middle, a long winding bar, and real wood everywhere.A guest room upstairs. And you get their food plus Crawford's(former Dogwood's)beer efforts. Think High ABV here and the aged stuff is expensive but worth special treats. A cask English was here and is very worthwhile. Everything is very good. One of the better brewpubs in North America that I have been to, and one I will unconditionally return. Some more guest taps and some side sofas to sit and relax would be interesting improvements on an already great place.

Not a bad place overall actually. I thought it was quite cozy with a lively atmosphere. The food seemed very good and I noticed that the brews were looking pretty decent. Tried an IPA and a porter that were both pretty decent, albeit a touch light. Not a bad place overall and I was glad I was able to stop in. Might come back on my trip through town next time to see whats going down and have some food. This trip I just really did not have the time. Overall through this was not a bad brewpub, but no idea how the other one is to be honest.

I didn't have anything to eat so I can't speak for the chow, but I'm confident it is at least as good as what they offer at their Sandy Springs location. I tried two brews and enjoyed both of them. This brewpub's main room is very open and with a high ceiling, unusual for a tavern, yet it seems cozy, just right for an intimate rendezvous or a gathering with a few friends. The open area has bar seating, a number of booths, some small tables, and couch-type seating, making it ideal for a large get-together such as a Meetup. Upstairs there are two private rooms ideal for meetings or parties. If the weather is cold, there is a fireplace in the middle of the main room to warm yourself and your heart. Parking is ample, and the location on Old Milton just a few blocks from Georgia 400 makes it easy to find.

Five Seasons is considered by many to be the top brew pub in metro Atlanta. I have eaten and tried the hand crafted beers at their other location in Sandy Springs several times before. I recently tried their new location in Alpharetta.

Although the staff was extremely friendly and helpful, I hate to admit it, but I just don't enjoy their beer. I tried four selections on this visit including a Belgian ale and a porter, and would be extremely reluctant to try them again. The food is good quality and I recommend the Ploughman's plate for an appetizing meal along with their beers.

I don't know if I will return. I've been disappointed in their beer craft too many times. They have their admirers, but I have to say that I feel that 5 Seasons is vastly over-rated.

I gave the place another shot. They had only two beers available, the silverware had caked on filth. We got up and left.
Never again!

Hopefully 5 Seasons taking over this location will give it some stability. It was originally one of the ill-fated Buckhead Breweries and then for a very short time Embers. Now it is 5 Seasons North and will shortly have its Grand Opening. It has been operating “on the sly” for a little over a month (2 months?) now. The food, as with the other 5 Seasons is very good and high quality. They have sought to have different beers that the “mother store” in Sandy Springs and that’s cool. I’ve heard that one of the former brewers from the old Dogwood Brewery (may it rest in peace) is now brewing for them at this location.
I visited the location about a week ago and had Belgian styled aged ale that was aged in a Jack Daniels whisky barrel. I didn’t like the beer as much as I had expected but appreciated the style. I switched beers with my girlfriend halfway through and tried her Belgian White. I liked the Belgian White much better and she liked the aged ale much better, so we were both happy overall. I don’t believe the décor has changed much since it was a Buckhead Brewery; it looked the same as the one I used to visit south of Atlanta. If this location carries on the fine tradition of the 5 Seasons in Sandy Springs, I’m sure it will do just fine.
