When the autumn leaves begin to fall, then it’s time to savour Maneblusser Bok. This pale amber beer is brewed with 2 varieties of barley malt, wheat malt and oats. It is made with 3 types of hops and seasoned with curaçao. The result? A fine balance between bitter and sweet, with hints of ripe fruit. Just like autumn, it tastes mellow, full-bodied and heart-warming. Ideal after a brisk autumn walk!

Head of foam is decent and retention is nice, but the colour is a bit brown murky. Smell of orange, pepper, anise and malt. Not unpleasant, but not a smell i associate with a herfstbok (autumn bock). Same goes for the taste. Orange at first, but after a few sips the peppers take over, giving this beer a spicy dry taste, with some sourness in the aftertaste. Does not linger very long. Mouth feel is medium-bodied and a bit stingy. The taste is absolutely interesting, and they should use this pepper (Melegueta) in more beers, cause it certainly adds nice dimensions to this beer. So why the average rating? This is in no way a herfstbock, not even by a longshot. Please don't sell it as one. They should brew a pale version of this one and sell it in the summer.
