June 2013: Shared 750 ml corked bottle, from Voldby Købmandsgaard. ABV is 8%. Deep reddish brown colour, moderate off-white head. Unusual aroma of almonds / almond essence, spices and vinous notes, hints of cherries. The flavour has also hints of preserved cherries, almonds and mild spices.

From 3/6/10 notes. Thanks to Chris (chriso on RB) for bringing this from England to a local DC tasting. Bottle was from 2006.

a - Poured a a dark, murky, red-brown color with no head or carbonation evident.

s - Smelled mostly of booze and fruit. Raisins, plums, pretty sweet, but there is something off about it that makes it a werid sweet boozey smell.

t - Taste follows the nose pretty closely; booze and dark fruits. Again, a weird taste to this one that was not very enjoyable.

m - Pretty light body with little carbonation.

d - I did not enjoy this beer at all. I think everyone at the tasting was in agreement that there was something off about this beer. Perhaps it was cellared for too long or something, but the weird sweet fruit and booze smell and taste makes you wonder what it was like in 2006. If I had this I would try it now because I don't think it is going to get any better.
