Presentation: On cask at Doyle's JP/Boston, MA.
Appearance: Fairly clear (slight cloudiness), rich dark amber. Lace is a patchy white and creamy head.
Smell: Raw coarse hops. Very fresh aroma with a foundation of sweet malts and citrus hops.
Taste: Silky smooth mouthfeel and an even body. Malt sweetness is subdued by a distinct raw hop flavour of grapefruit rind, leaf, earth and light oils that fade and slightly pucker the palate and mellow coarse feeling. Sweetness is hidden in a tea-like broth and the finish is raw and dry with said hop residuals.
Notes: A pretty damn amazing cask ale. Very true to style and very authentic tasting. Also a nice surprise as Tremont's cask ales are more and more rare these days.
