Bottle labeled "Old Surefoot". I guess the old is kept at the brewery for 1 year to increase roasted malt, and coffee flavours. Big thanks to MUSTANG3 for hooking this up. Pours oraque, dark body. Thin beige head. Aromas are roasted malt, some chocolate and coffee. Taste is milk chocolate, roasted malt, and some coffee flavours. Pretty well rounded. Finish is astringent, lingering coffee and bitterness. Thanks a bundle Kevin.

170 Long Neck (650ml) bottles of Mountain Goats Surefoot Stout are put aside to age for 12 months each year. Hence they become "old" Surefoot Stout.
A - Black with a couple of centimetres of light brown head that falls away quite quickly. Reforms with a heavy swirl, minimal lacing.
S - Supposedly the aging brings out the chocolate and coffee from the malt. Those are there but I'm getting a huge aroma of dark stewed fruits like raisins, prunes etc.
T - It all comes into balance better in the taste, a nice complex mix of dark fruit flavours, bitter but mellowed cocoa, a bit of coffee & a very slight spicy tinge.
M - Nice smooth mouthfeel with low carbonation.
D - Pretty decent drop. I could easily drink a couple of these and be happy but like all limited beers it's pricey. $18 to be exact.
While it's pretty good I think it would have been better to brew a stronger beer to age in house.
