Pours dark amber with an off-white small head.
Nose shows lots of peach and passionfruit hops along with more tropical fruit. Underneath is rich caramel malt.
Similar flavours but more malty, with a little alcohol showing and a soft bitterness.
Carbonation is a little high.

Mountain Goat Double Hightail Ale is a decent beer and has quite a complex flavour. It's not delicious though. I'm not a fan of the style though, so that may be why.

A: Dark amber colour and a 15 mm head that lasts quite well. 4

S: Floral hop aroma. Very pleasant. 4.5

T: Malty with a crisp, bitter flavour and some slight sweetness. There is some roasted caramel and smoke flavours at the end. It's pretty complex but not delicious. 3.5

M: Fizzy and a little thin. 3.5

O: 3.5

On tap at the brewery and this one was "In Randy" MG's hop infuser.

This would probably have been better if it wasn't put through Randy. In some ways the fresh hops were the best and worst part of this combo. First the fresh hops were flavorful and aromatic. However, when combined with a more balanced beer like Double Hightail, the fresh hops overshadowed the mild bready malts. It wasn't altogether bad, but Randy should be saved for their Double IPA--which was amazing run through fresh hops.

2010 Edition. Not as souped up (vs. the standard) as the label would have you believe but still a very solid beer. Plenty of pretty sweet malt character (coffee and toffee) and a decent hop firmness in the back palate. Very accessible to many palates and indeed a good intro to upmarket craft beer.

I was a bit unsure about this beer I love the normal hightail and sometimes I don't like the stong beers.

But this hits the spot deep mahonany colour amd dense white head smooth rich flavor.

A - Pours a very hazy amber with a couple of centimetres of off white head. Lots of little spots of lacing.
S - Some floral hop & dark fruit aromas.
T - Like the smell but with some of the sweet, caramel malt coming through as well. Some alcohol touches in the background.
M - Medium bodied with a lowish carbonation level.
D - Nice beer to celebrate the Goat's 10th birthday. Wouldn't drink any more than a couple of pints given the ABV%.
Like pretty much all draught beer it's served cold. Would be interesting to taste it via hand pump cask.
