25th April 2012: Hand pulled pint in ‘The White Lion’ a well respected ‘Real Ale’ outlet in Wellington, Shropshire. I’ve had this at the brew-pub in Bishops Castle a few times but never rated/reviewed it before.
Slight haze to this yellow/golden brew (every time) and always a thin off-white head on top.
No huge nose here: mild mix of both spicy and citrusy hops, wood and malted biscuits.
The taste is also a mixed bag: malts with semi-bittering hops as the mouth dries. Nutty, woody and pleasant throughout (which is why I’ve had it so often).
Medium body strength and depth, a nice blend and well worth finding.
