25th April 2012: Hand pulled pint in ‘The White Lion’ a well respected ‘Real Ale’ outlet in Wellington, Shropshire. I’ve had this at the brew-pub in Bishops Castle a few times but never rated/reviewed it before, just like the pint before this one (Big Nev’s).
Golden bodied brew with a thin, weak looking white head on top.
Fruity aroma with a slight citrus bite to it: add some malted biscuits too.
The taste was sweeter than the smells indicated: more malt flavours, caramel and toffee coming to the fore and overcoming the hop content somewhat. The hops re-asserting themselves towards the end of each gulp; where a citrus/more bitter feel took over.
Easy drinking beer; like all the brews from The Six Bells.
