A dark and robust wood-aged porter. Made with Ontario maple syrup, and aged on Canadian maple. From spring sap to fall colours, maple bookends our summers and is perfect for this autumn-suited beer. Rich, espresso, maple.

Almost black with a small, rapidly clearing head. Rich chocolate malt nose with a hint of maple sweetness. Roasty medium malt body with a nice smoothness.

600 ml bottle served cool into a tulip. Part of the Beau's mixed pack Fall 2018. Bottled July 26, 2018 and Batch 7528.
Appearance - Pours near black with a small half finger of tan head. Short retention time and not much lacing.
Smell - Chocolate, wet coffee grounds, some general earthiness and a subtle bit of maple mixed in. Kind of reminds me a of maple coffee cookie too.
Taste - Bitter chocolate with a hint of maple sweetness initially. That moves to a more chcolate and coffee combo afterwards with plenty of roatsed and toasted flavors. A little more bready than most porters. Finishes with a little bit of maple mixed in with the balance of flavors.
Mouthfeel - Medium-heavy bodied, Carbonation is expressive as it sits on the tongue. Doesn't have the silky velvet quality that many porters do have, but this still goes down real nice.
Overall - A winner in this pack, however doesn't live up to a precedent set by a couple of the previous Fall pack stouts/ porters, namely One Ping Only in 2016 and Sergeant Stripes in 2017. Still Maple Rush is worth the purchase.
