Bready, biscuity malt backbone complemented by a firm hop presence that lends balancing bitterness, and promotes its high drinkability.

Poured a 473ml can into a pint glass. A one finger bubbly head on a clear dark amber. Good head retention. Some patchy lacing.
Strong sweet malt smells.
Lots of malt flavour up front. Moderately sweet. Some caramel. Not much bitterness.
Medium body and carbonation.
Well balanced.

Look: Bright clear copper hue. Pours with a finger of tightly bubbled head that fades away to a light top cover after 5 minutes. Solid sticky lacing

Smell: Earthy, with both dry and wet straw notes. Hints of green apple and caramel.

Taste: Mineral water, especially at the back end gives this beer a nice crisp snap. Caramel sweetness, and doughy malts throughout. Flavours of dry toast, and I pick up a hint of apricot like flavour deep in the mix.

Feel: Full bodied and round. This beer dominates your whole mouth, finishing with a sweet dry bitterness that is very pleasant. Carbonation is perhaps a bit strong for the first few minutes, but let things settle in a bit, and let the beer warm up for that matter to enjoy this to the fullest.

You couldn't ask for a more apt beer for a cool October evening. This earns a A-.

The beer poured a beautiful translucent cherry red, with a thin white head. The aroma is grainy malt, light fruit, caramel, and weak floral hops. The mouthfeel was medium bodied with medium carbonation. The flavour was a perfect balance between the malty sweetness and the hoppy bitterness. Easy to drink!

A- Carbonation is good and true to style. Decent head at first, but falls very quick. Colour is fairly spot on.

S- So honestly, I am very underwhelmed at first pour.. It looks like Marzen, but in no way do I get any authentic malty aroma one would expect from a real Marzen. Flat and almost adjunct lager like in smell. This sad since, I normally enjoy Beau's product.

T- Not bad, but sorry Beau's this is not a Marzen. This drinks like a very Amber Pils. Slightly cloying and the bitterness is too up front and forceful for the style. Bitterness should play second to the malt. It does not. Up front noble hops presence that lingers too long. The malt is not able to coat the tongue lie a true Marzen should. There is a certain dryness about it but I can't say it is bad, but again I think they have totally missed the boat on this style of beer. The finish is off and the hops linger too much that little malt character really shines.

M/O- This beer is not bad by any means. However, this isn't a good example of a true Marzen style lager. It is too bitter up front. The malt isn't able to shine. A true Marzen is balanced and the hops are well placed in the background and compliment the Munich style malts. Maybe I had a bad bottle, but being a bit of a traditionalist, I cant recommend this beer if you are expecting an authentic Oktoberfest style lager. This beer really reminds me of the Rickard's Laderhosen that was recently released. It is just not a good example of the style.

Now in Beau's defence I also was drinking this side by side with an Ayinger Marzen. So, I would say it is a nice attempt, but not so much. Like most domestic attempts, they just over hopped this beer. It is an okay beer, but Beau's has done better.

A- Poured this into my pint glass and am greeted with a great looking head that looks like the top of a volcano that erupted whipped cream once it settled....excellence in retention! Lacing is awesome as well with nothing but thick foamwork clinging to any area not encompassed by beer! There seems to be a decent amount of carbonation rising through the moderately to heavy hazed copper colored brew!

S- There is a very well balanced aroma between leafy noble hops and caramel malts. It is rich in smell and slightly grainy....I don't feel there's much else to say....just a nice smelling beer!

T- Very malt forward and sweet but not in a cloying way....very much of caramels and toffee. Slightly grainy as the aroma suggests. There is a certain fruitiness about it but I can't put my finger on it....perhaps very slight of bananas. The finish is mainly sweet and just a tinge of Earthy bittering hops help to balance out the strong malts.

M/O- This is a really smooth beer with a mild carbonation and rich buttery body that is definitely in that medium range somewhere. At the same time, this is crisp and refreshing and goes very well with a Ukrainian garlic sausage that I'm enjoying at the moment. A very session-able beer that hides the alcohol well, I would buy this again and have no issues drinking this over an evening with friends! I will buy this again and recommend anyone to find it and try it!
