Appearance: It has a nice dark nut brown/amber color to it. It has a nice creamy tan head that dies down slowly and leaves some lacing.

Smell: The aromas definitly give out hints burbon, caramely notes, vanilla, oak and a definite booziness.

Taste: Like the aromas, i'm getting the caramel, some vanilla/molasses, bourbon, oak, and some hops. I have tried other DIPA but nothing comparable to this. Strong boozy and bitter finish with the hops drowned by the bourbon.

Mouthfeel: It has a high carbonation with an astringent overall balance and feel.

Drinkability: It's a smooth drinkable beer accompanied with decent flavors and aromas. Somewhat harsh but still decent I suppose.

Dark coloured with a good soapy head. Coconut and butter aroma, vanilla. A significant bourbon in the taste, hoppy, but hops get overwhelmed by the bourbon, wood and butter. Big mouthfeel. Lacey. Drinkable but wierd and off because of the butter. Boozy as it warms and at the finish. Our shared bottle of the group.

Bottle as part of the Greener Futures initiative. 600ml bottle into a tulip, BBA'd for 6 months. Categorized this as a 'strong ale', as there really are no indications (flavour-wise) of this being a DIPA, although one serves as a base for it.

Poured mahogany with some ruby highlights, a light cream head with big legs, light lacing and head. Nose is all barrel - bourbon, vanilla, light coconut, and oak. Any semblance of the base beer is lost, but on the whole this isn't unpleasant by any stretch. Tastes just about the same however, bourbon is there, but the oak barrel influence itself far exceeds any other perceivable flavours from this. Prevalent buttery character in the finish, well after the mouthful has been consumed. Sweet but not overpowering, a light bitterness continues well into the finish. A slight chalkiness as well. An OK beer on the whole, but probably not the best beer to be BBA'ing in the first place - I'm thinking bourbon soaked oak chips would've been better for this beer as the barrels seemed to have shredded the base beer into oblivion. Although I'm glad to have had the opportunity to try this, I wasn't really a fan.
