On tap at Victory Cafe, into a flared pint glass. 2012 edition, a Bourbon barrel aged blend of Beau’s Beaver River I.P. Eh, Flying Monkeys’ Smashbomb Atomic IPA, Grand River’s Curmudgeon IPA, Great Lakes’ Robust Porter, and Wellington’s Imperial Russian Stout.
Dark brown, chestnut at the edges. A light tan head, OK lacing and dense retention. Nose has butterscotch, some corny bourbon, oak and vanilla. Sweet milk chocolate with a touch of roast; hops peek through too. Taste has sweet warming bourbon, hops are evident, bitter chocolate, some herbal character. Oak is quite prominent as well. A bit chalky in the finish. Drying but sweet. Medium body, boozy bourbon notes although this isn't hot. A somewhat pedestrian BBA stout, maybe a little moreso in light of some other beers I've had in the style lately.

Enjoyed on tap during OCB week at Bryden's. Listed initially at 8% this was in fact 10.5% based on measurement from the markings. Black with tan retaned head of 3/4 of an inch of head. Bourbon aroma. Creamy smooth, initially very barrel and coconut, later sips revealing chocolate malt. Complex and dangerously drinable.
