On tap at the 16th St. Denver Rock Bottom. Hazy orange. Thin, but persistent head leaves sparse lace. Pungent candied grapefruit with sharper notes of lemon zest, bolstered with stately light caramel malt. Simcoe dry hop character overwhelms, agreeably so. Flavor is dominated by a simple, one dimensional combination of citrus tinged bitterness and balancing residual sweetness. Tepid clementine hints provide a softer citrus character. A lightly toffeeish presence provides contrast. Assertively bitter, but lacks a sturdy malt backbone. Moderate bodied, slightly thin, but conducive to easy quaffing. Finishes cleanly citric, with lingering maltose sweetness. (IPA)² has a clean, vibrant hop profile that just needed more malt foundation. Nonetheless I ordered several pints of this very drinkable IPA. Simcoe!!
