Please correct my review if incorrect, since I had this on tap they referred this as a "Christmas ale" which is considered a winter warmer.

A - Pours a dark amber brown, clear in color, with a great ruby base. Head in a 1/2 inch of tan head. Nice

S - Smells of holiday spices, maybe some cinnamon or nutmeg but mostly molasses and anise.

T - Ow wow I have never had a beer so flavored of molasses! It's to the point of almost cloying right along side of some bittering hops, but where are those spices I smelled?

Taste like an old molasses ginger cookie that's past it's prime...

M - This is the worst part the beer is thinner than it should be (which is standard for a 5.9% winter warmer) Drinks like water.

Overall wow this beer is not of quality as others reviewed, maybe the other one listed is the one I actually had but they make a pretty crappy winter warmer. Thin, little spice, and a cloying molasses taste that makes you hope your taste buds die to finish the glass. Avoid if you can!

(from notes)

Tall, creamy head sits atop the deep burgundy body. Some lacing but low head retention.

Complex nose with good malt characteristics but also some hoppy notes of pine and citrus. Some notes of toasted dark bread and brown sugar in the background

Taste is just as complex and quite delicious. Rich fruit notes of peach and plum. Some molasses and maple syrup. Excellent hints of piny hop notes as well.

Great, creamy medium-thick body. Perfect carbonation.

Impressive beer- if it's available give it a taste and you wont be sorry.

deep, dark, burgundy hue, bordering on brown, clear crimson at foot, with a fine creamy head, that slips down quickly.
Malty nose, dusky, with notes of dark fruit, anise, molasses, a rich, murky thing this is...
Taste is a wonderful thing, thick and rich on the palate, full-bodied, with mocha tones, syrupy at times, slick, even treacly, but delicious...
A bigger mouthfeel and texture and a fuller body than I usually encounter at Rock Bottom, they went all out on this one, taste is sweet and candyish, even...not strong enough for me to really feel this one as a "warmer", but, hey, it's been a light winter so far, and I can feel their intentions, anyway...the rich maltiness and sweet taste are enough to qualify it for comfort brew, perhaps...

This had a ridiculously tall light tan head each time getting a sample, didn't like waiting for all that foam to settle, but it was kinda nice to watch it smooth out and become extremely creamy as it did. Left loads of thick lacing. Color itself was a dark brown of chestnut. Great aroma! Hoppy! Mega loads of super highly sweet and fresh pine! Oh, my was this nice to behold. Great hop nose, hoppy, warm, toasty, piney as hell with a great touch of lemon citrus and hints of tropical fruits. Ahh, then the taste, again with more hops, very clean and calmingly handled bitterness, super tropical fruits with alot of fresh pineapple, super yummy in that regards, some peach and green apple notes play within and touches of piney citrus. Backed up by a very nice sweet caramel. Quite the taster, this was super yummy! Medium body and slightly creamy in the feel with some wonderfully smooth bitterness. Thoroughly enjoying!

Many samples, three I think, at Winterfest in St.Paul 2004
