Poured a nice mahogany color, with no head, just a little white bubbles on top. Nose was malts, hops, a deep caramel flavor and perhaps some fruit(raisin, fig,) Taste was lightly sweet, malty, well balanced and the hops were subtle. ABV was upfront as you knew it was a boozer.
Good barleywine and a surprise from a Rock Bottom!!! Rock On!
Gained a new respect for Rock Bottom after this.

I really enjoyed the december brewmaster's offering, served in half pint glasses, a bit pricey at $4.50 a half

Poured a ruddy brown with 1/4"' sand colored head. Good lacing and pretty good head retention

S: Rich bready malts, brown sugar & caramel

T: Rich bready malt & hints of cinamon & brown sugar up front. Warming and a carmel/toffee follow as warms. No real hops profile at all. Finishes dry, warming and with loads of malt profile

MF: Rich, chewy & low carbonation

Pretty drinkable for the style. I could do about a pint of this before moving on or taking a nap by the fire. This is a good barley wine as most I've had lately

Had this down on Vacation in FL.

Almost a full finger of head that sat on top of a delicious copper/reddish brew. No real lacing on the glass as it was drank.

Brew was a touch syrupy with gave it a silky feel going down. No real carbonation.

I could taste the spicyness of hops way way way in the background. It was a touch fruitier, appley and malty sweet.

I would certainly recomend this brew. but not the best barleywine for me. It would be on the lower end of the scale.

On tap at the Denver brewpub...

Served in a small fat Pilsner-like glass. Slightly hazy ginger color, less than copper. Head is gone in a half a minute. Lace is minimal, small dots. Spicy aroma, nutmeg combined with over ripe pears in the fragrance. Full and silky mouthfeel, minimal carbonation, thick on the tongue. Starts fruity and syrupy, the tang of spice is good here, like cinnamon candy to accompany the flesh fruits. Sweet and easy-going, despite the 12% ABV, there's also a nice estery fluffiness to the finish. What I like, and tend to look for in Barleywines lately, is a lack of throat ripping hops -- and this one delivered, thick and consistent from start to finish.
