Hard to diss the appearance because it is black and there was little head given the full glass. Lucky for Rock Bottom. Mild chocolate aroma suggests at least something average. On the tongue, there is some more chocolate with some roast but very low hop presence. Flavors overall are just too weak. And then the body drops out in the middle, leaving the beer thin and empty. Not much malt backbone to save the day. You can order this with a shot of expresso, in which case the beer is infused with a huge coffee flavor, duh. Still doesn't cover up the weaknesses in this beer.
The recipe in the restroom reads something like:
PaleMalt, Munich, touch of wheat, black malt, caramel
Nugget
Williamette
Fuggles
