Appearance: Ha! Great name! Any reference to Space Balls scores points in my book. The beer is very dark brown with very little light passing through giving it a slightly reddish brown tint. Head is medium-sized, off-white and chunky with decent retention and good lacing.
Smell: Mmm, roasted malts. Chocolate and caramel and a slightly grassy aroma.
Taste: This is almost porter-like. It has that chocolate bitterness thats bigger than Id expect from a schwarzbier. Coffee, nuts, earth and some light smoke. The finish is medium in duration with a light hoppy bitterness.
Mouthfeel: Medium body, dry texture, low carbonation.
Drinkability: Being a schwartzbier, I wasnt expecting such a complex beer. But it went back to more of what I was expecting on the finish. I enjoyed this beer and recommend trying it.

A very dark mahogany body is topped by a creamy light tan head that holds well and leaves some nice splashes of lace about the glass. Toffeeish, chocolatey, and slightly roasty grains appear in the nose. It's medium bodied and smooth across the palate with a fine-bubbled, median carbonation that lightly caresses the tongue. In the flavor it's maltiness dominates: caramelish, chocolatey and subtly roasty. Some light, grassy and floral hop flavor lingers in the background. It's well balanced, and it finishes dry and lingering. Very well brewed, quite flavorful, and very drinkable. A nice pint (or mug club half litre)!

Hmmm...with all this Star Wars hype around, looks like Jon Thomas put his Space Balls spin on this beer. The description even says, "May the schwarz be with you."
Appears a dark brown with a 2 finger head and tons of spotty lacing that seems to get collected and redistributed with each sip.
Smell is of caramel, coffee, and slight chocolate malts with a bit of a slight smokiness in the aroma.
Taste is of rich caramel and coffee with a smooth caramel and toffee smoothness.
Mouthfeel is nice with all the flavors of coffee, caramel, and chocolate punching and swirling with a mild smokey peat that covers the palate.
Finger licking good.
