Strong Ale, 7.5%
Presentation: Listed on the backboard of the Brewery as Strong Ale at 7.5% ABV.
Appearance: Dark orange with some light brown in the dark amber rust bloom. Lacking in head again, arrived with a thin off-white covering but this too soon disappeared. Low conditioning.
Nose: Sweet malts and hints of syrup. Low strength aromas.
Taste & Mouthfeel: Gentle tastes, malts have some contribution from the alcohol as well as a sugary feel. Soft boozy feel is unbalanced and not supported at all, the flat feel of this one letting it down. Not very clean, the sweetness has too much input for me.
Drinkability: Another offering where the low carbonation meant for a plodding heavy footed drink. Again, one was enough.
Overall: Easy going brew with few highlights. A rather pedestrian affair, its biggest problem was the lack of body and carbonation to offset the 7.5% alcohol. Reminded me of a lifeless 'Angry Dragon' without the hops .I wonder.
