Traditional dark wheat beer originating in Bavaria. Chocolate, banana bread, and clove in the nose and palate. Fruity, spritzy finish.

Appearance - dark, murky iced-tea color with a small but tight pillow of foam, slightly higher in the center.
Aroma - mostly grain, a bit of yeast and roastiness at the end. Yeast comes out more as the beer settles. Rather mild all around but enough to style.
Taste - yeasty, slightly lemony start. The swallow brings out the roasty, dunkel part, but it is a bit over-shadowed by a mild sour bitterness at the back and sides of the palate. It's a bit peculiar but it'll drink. It ends with a pilsner-like dryness and hop flavor. The sourness abates, lending better balance as the beer warms a bit, but it doesn't really hit the right registers for me.
Mouthfeel - a tad thin for any style with dunkel in the name, IMO. The crispness is nice though and the body is fine.
Drinkability - I like most of the other RB offerings too much to consider this one for a session, but if you like the style, give it a try.

As their wheat beer, the Northside Rock bottom is offering this Dunkel Weizen in the winter. It's nice to see someone attempting this style.
Appearance is good - clear chestnut color with a pretty good cream colored head that sticks around awhile. Smell is a little faint, but there is toasted malt and cocoa in there. Not too bad. The taste is a little lacking in punch, but is balanced. The toasted malt and mild chocolate again show up and are balanced by a light bitterness. This is quite quaffable but I could do with a little more flavor. Mouthfeel is nothing special - light to medium bodied for the style.
