Arrived as a 10oz pour that was a quite cloudy orange color with auburn highlights. A healthy half inch of white head on top that even sticks around a bit and leaving lots of sticky lacing in its wake. Aromas begin with some sweet caramel and light toffee notes along with a big blast of citric, herbal hops. Some brown sugar there as well. A nice nose but I was expecting it to be a bit bolder.
First sip brings a rush of deep caramel malt that's somewhat sweet with some toffee notes and dark fruits in there as well. It's quickly followed by plenty of citric, herbal hops that bring a nice sturdy bitterness all the way down. It finishes with a touch of alcohol and warms the belly. Hops linger on in the aftertaste...overall this is a tasty barleywine.
Mouthfeel is big and bold while still being a bit creamy as well. Good stable carbonation works well and it never becomes too much. I was quite happy with this brew and its one of the best beers I've had at RB Warrenville. I'll be back again soon to see what else is on tap!
