On tap at brewery

Pours a hazy pale yellow with a small foamy white head. Smells of toasted wheat, lemon peel, coriander. Tastes of toasted wheat, clove, light banana, ease the yeast. Light body, medium carbonation, foamy mouthfeel and finish. Nice crisp summer beer

 

 

 

 

 

 

Serving notes - cool off the tap, first 4 oz sample in a 6-glass sampler at the Rock Bottom Restaurant, Minn-St. Paul Airport
Aroma - full wheat malt up front, spicy pepper notes.
Appearance - Thin white haze, body hazy yellow-orange.
Taste - Full wheat backed by buscuity malt. Nice spicy easters. Reminiscent of a nice Bavairan hefeweizen.
Mouthfeel - full body with medium carbonation.
D - Great wheat beer, very drinkable.

Pleasant though sour smelling wheat beer. Cloudy grapefruit, only a lot of head gave way to lots of lace. Served on the somewhat too cold side, particularly for a late Fall Minni day. Medium mouthfeel, even a bit creamy. Found the carbonation a tad fizzy.

Had this on tap at the RB pub at the airport. Frankly, I was expecting a watered down, insipid version of a wit beer... this beer was anything but.

The beer pours an impressive hazy peach color with very good head retention and lacing. Even more surprising is the nose. The beer has a sweet, spicey, wheaty aroma, but with some noticeable white pepper, clove, allspice and orange peel. This beer smells terrific. As good as it smells, the beer tastes even better. The beer is very full bodied for a wheat beer, with plenty of flavor. The beer once again has something of a sweetish German hefeweizen flavor, but with noticeable spice as well. Again, one gets plenty of clove, orange peel, allspice and maybe some coriandor. The beer is not heavy and is very easy to drink. I would guess the abv. to be in the 5% or 6%, but regardless, it was well hidden in this very well made beer.

I know RB is capable of making good beer, but I confess this beer surprised me. Easily one of the best beers I've ever had by RB, and one of the best domestic wheat/wit beers I've tried as well. At least IMO, this beer puts the Mothership Wit and Allagash white to shame. It's THAT good.

Tried this at the pub at Minneapolis airport, as it was featured on the chalkboard and came as part of the sampler. It poured a pale honey haze with a thin ring of white foam, no retention. The nose was full of orange, but not enough to overwhelm the toasted wheat and the strong yeast aroma. Again, the taste was heavy on the citrus, but prominent yeast flavor, toasted grain, and spice came through. Fairly close to Blue Moon in flavor. Great mouth-feel for the style: light-bodied, but a dry finish that belies the bitterness of the yeast and the sweetness of the wheat. I could easily put back a couple of pints of this.
