Snifter, served on tap at Rock Bottom Chicago; the menu says both this and the imperial stout were aged in Woodford bourbon barrels for three months. Pours dark chocolate brown, with a thin off-white head and a little lacing.

The aroma is completely dominated by barrel-aging-- vanilla, oak, molasses, and alcohol are the major notes, along with a slight bourbon aroma. Some dark fruit is present, but this is basically the bourbon-aged imperial stout minus the stout character and a little lighter.

Tastes like it smells, with the addition of some spicy phenols.

Mouthfeel is chewy, slightly lighter than the stout.

This is a heavy beer; not much drinkability here.
