Pours opaque black, dark tan lacing for a head.
Smells of mesquite, brown sugar, anise and fig.
Flavor is of rich brown sugar, plum, grape, anise, mesquite, leather, maple, pecan, walnut, and toast.
Full, thick body. Light hint of carbonation. Boozy warmth going down.
Very tasty and rich slow sipper. The flavor of this beer is very good but there is some slight imbalance at the end of the taste. The bready part of the malt is a bit stale-tasting, or maybe not quite balanced with the rich fruit sweetness. Nothing terrible and it gets better as it warms. Every other aspect of this beer is gorgeous. Very much worth trying while available.
