11oz pour into a snifter. Arrives at my table a deep dark brown that borders on black with a nice half inch of creamy light brown head on top. First sniff brings deep bourbon along with some roasted wheat and malt. Dark cherry, oak, banana, clove and some spiciness. A bit of yeastiness too.
First sip brings some bourbon against dark roasty malt. Notes of cherry and some chocolate mix in. Follows with some spice and a hint of banana. Oak tones on the way down along with yeast afterthoughts. Finishes with big, bright bourbon flavors and just a kiss of bitterness. A tasty barrel aged brew.
Mouthfeel is smooth and creamy, yet a little lighter than I expected, but that might also be that I'm used to always drinking bourbon aged imperial stouts and barleywines, this being my first barrel aged weizenbock. Overall this was a tasty brew, alcohol was not that overpowering making it easier to drink and while the bourbon flavor was strong it worked well in my opinion.
