Caramel brown with crimson tones, fully opaque, with a rusted creamy head. looks nice, in my Duvel glass, looked very nice this afternoon in a balloon snifter at the pub.
Aroma: earthy spices up front, rich and yeasty, with some chocolate, some dark fruit, grapes and berries, but deep, and blended with pepper. Musty, ancient, and heady...bready...yes.
Taste: plump, vibrant, and full of all the flavors I expect of a good dubbel. Warm, earthy spices, dark fruit, some chocolate, all that stuff mentioned above, if not more. Really takes command of the mouth, excellent stuff. A blast of yeast, spice, malt and whatever extra wisps through the air.
Good drinking, even if on the strong side...9.3%...hmmm, it's warming me. gonna go great with dinner tomorrow!
Great job, Bryon!
