I may have waited too long on opening this growler.Picked it up three days ago, only opening it now...and maybe that's why there's no head.Otherwise, it's a gorgeous magenta hue, lovely stuff.

Sweet,malty, nealy syrup-y...meaty stuff...hearty,& plump.

On the tongue, the rich sweetness continues, then the "rauch"comes in, and the smoke comes on. Deep, dark fruit, dates, plums, raisins, blackberries, dark cherries...is there rye in here?I'm tasting some...

This is really tasty, yum meets yum, compounded with delicious. Full, rich, brimming with flavor...long finish, full body.Unbeatable.

Dark cherry wood color. Not much light gets through the body. A thin and creamy nicotine stained beige head forms on the surface. Lace is sporadica and spotty. Aroma is fantastic. Brandy soaked raisins and figs and dates and thick bready malt tones. And the faint hint of a campfire as well. Nice subtle smokiness on the nose. Excellent entry. Starts with an underlying rich bready, molasses like malt tones. Then layers of brandy, rum, raisin, biscuit and carmelized cane sugar form within that context. Very good flavor. The smoke is almost too subtle on the palate. Slight cherry notes accent nicely. But this beer has been on for quite some time so it's possible that it has been refined over that time. The body of this beer is very forgiving. Leads to quite an easy going feel and texture. There's a little heat noticed, but not a lot. It really blends in with the whole substructure very nicely. This is really a beauty.
