on tap at the brewpub in Chicago. pours black with subtle garnet highlights with tan, thick head with no lacings and decent retention. aroma is of rich coffee notes mainly with a base of black malt and subtle chocolate notes. taste is of subtle crystalized black malts and a restrained coffee note with a finish of dry roasted malt and undertones of coffee. mouthfeel is full bodied with a semi dry texture and a semi sweet profile with a satisfying, warming finish. drinkability is great. the brew is black and semi-dry on the palate, which comes off as more of a stout than a porter. cheers!
